Peter is one of the pioneers of community engagement in Australia, incorporating consultation and participation in art and design projects. For over thirty years he has been sourcing valuable information from communities to inform the design process.
He has over 200 public projects to his credit on the east coast of Australia and overseas. These include murals in ceramic, mosaic and paint; sculptures in steel, bronze, terrazzo, timber and stone, as well as playgrounds and urban design projects.
Peter’s academic qualifications include – a Diploma of Industrial Design , a Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies and an M.A in Community/Public Art (by research) in which he concentrated on collaborative and participatory techniques and methodology. He has also undertaken specific research for 5 years as a candidate for a Doctorate in Public Art.
Over the years he has received many awards, including a Churchill Fellowship, numerous Australia Council grants and many Artist Residencies including Vence in the South of France, New York and Bundanon in NSW and has taught and guest lectured at most Universities in NSW and overseas.
