Project Name: Shoreline

Artist: JADE OAKLEY

Location: Quay Restaurant, The Rocks, Sydney

Materials: Laser cut mild steel with Axolotl Applied Metal in Copper Rust Verdigris Patina and Mother of Pearl effect.

Dimensions: 3.2m w x 0.6m h

Description: Artist and long time Axolotl collaborator, Jade Oakley, was commissioned once again by Fink Group, owner of Quay Restaurant in Sydney, to create this beautiful piece which adorns the entry of the harbour-side fine-dining establishment.

The artwork is a double-sided suspended sculpture constructed of 84 laser cut steel forms welded in a complex three dimensional configuration. Each piece has been individually hand-painted in a mother of pearl effect on one side and coated with Axolotl Applied Metal in Copper Rust Verdigris Patina on the other.

With the changing of the season the sculpture is rotated on its vertical axis to reveal the mother of pearl face during the spring and summer months, and reversed to expose the organic tones of the Copper Rust Verdigris Patina during the Autumn and Winter seasons.
