Description: ‘Riparian’ by artist Jane Cavanough is an immersive public art installation located in Port Macquarie, NSW.
Referencing the expeditions of early Australian surveyor and explorer John Oxley, the installation consists of recycled hardwood/steel posts representing the forest through which Oxley forged his journey, with three feature “touchstones” made from Axolotl Link Glass with Applied Axolotl Metal in Nickel Florentine set into a stainless steel frame.
Working closely with Artist Jane Cavanough, Axolotl carved and inlaid the abstract pattern, inspired by the map drawn by John Oxley of the Hastings River, into the glass.
